When you save time on this necessary task, you can put it into doing something else around the home. Then again, you might just enjoy putting your feet up and relaxing after a hard days work.

No dryer sheets

If you forgot to put the dryer sheets on your shopping list, simply crumple up a ball of aluminum foil instead. This same ball of foil can be used for six months. It will help your clothes to dry faster and prevent static cling.

Leaving a note

The tiny print on clothing tags can be difficult to read. When you write yourself a note, however, you can avoid a laundry mishap. A dry erase marker used on the top of the washing machine can let you know exactly what to do with the special laundry when it is removed from the washer.

No more creases

Hangers are an awesome invention but there is a downfall, and that is creases. When you want to avoid the creases, cut a pool noodle in half and slip it over the hanger.

Armpit stains

One of the problems that many of us have is armpit stains. There is a spot remover you can use, however, and it works incredibly well. Mix together 1 teaspoon of liquid Dawn dish soap, 3 tablespoons hydrogen peroxide and 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Scrub the mixture on the stain with a brush.

Flat iron wrinkles

Wrinkled clothing makes you look as if you didn’t do your laundry properly. A flat iron can do the same thing as a regular iron but it is easier when you are traveling. This portable device can also be used in a pinch.

Have a ball

If you’re going to toss your mildew covered shower curtain in the trash, try this instead. Put the shower curtain in the washing machine with a cup of white vinegar and a tennis ball. The tennis ball loosens up the build up and scrubs it away.

Stain kit

Clothing stains are going to happen and they need to be cleaned. You can create a customized stain kit by lining the bottom of a plastic bin with a laundry cheat sheet. Fill the bin with stain fighting essentials including baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and vinegar.

Ice cube trick

Don’t wear that wrinkled clothing to work. Put it in the dryer with a few ice cubes. The moisture will freshen the clothes in only 10 minutes.

Noisy dryers

If you dry your tennis shoes in the dryer, it can make a lot of noise. To avoid this, tie the shoelaces together and hang them partially out of the door. Your shoes will stay in one place while they dry. You might also try putting them in a mesh bag and attaching it to the door in the same way.

Chalk

You can use chalk to remove grease stains by coaxing it out of the fibers. It works better than a Tide pen. Wait a few hours before brushing the chalk off and do your laundry as usual.

Un-shrink a shirt

If you shrink a T-shirt, you can reverse it. Fill a sink with warm water and put a squeeze of hair conditioner into it. Soak the shirt for up to 20 minutes, wring out the water and place it on a towel. Gently stretch out the shirt and wait for it to dry.

Shaving

If you notice unwanted piling after pulling laundry from the dryer, grab a razor. Run the razor over your clothing to shave off the fuzz.

Soap dispensers

Store your liquid detergent in a soap dispenser. Push a button and you will release the perfect portion

Space saver

When your laundry equipment takes up too much more space, hang it out of the way. Two coat hooks attached to the wall can create new storage areas for the ironing board

White pillows

Stains can also happen to pillows but don’t throw them away. Wash them in hot water with 1 cup of laundry detergent, 1 cup of powdered dishwasher detergent, 1 cup of bleach and 1/2 cup of borax.

Fresh towels

If your towels smell like mildew, try this treatment. Run them through a hot load with 1 cup of vinegar and then through another load with half cup of baking soda.
