There is a pile of clothing that every young girl has, and it contains some t-shirts for sure. If you have some old t-shirts (or new ones you don’t wear), this project is going to be perfect for you. Rather than taking up valuable closet space, you can transform those old shirts into something incredible.
There is something liberating about removing some old shirts from your wardrobe. It helps to control clutter and makes room for new shirts!. One you see this adorable project, however, you will never look at old t-shirts the same way again.
In this project, you are going to transform those old t-shirts into a cute Celtic knot headband. It is wonderfully chunky and perfect for a young girl, yet fashionable enough that it can be work by grown women as well.
The first step is to find some colorful shirts that would be fun for the project.
Cut two strips across the stomach area of the shirt 1 1/2 inches wide each. You will now have 2 loops of material.
Stretch the loops as far as they can go. When you do this, the strips will roll inward. Don’t worry, that is what you want to have happen.
Cross the ends of one of the strips, making it into a big loop. Make sure you cross the left end of the strip under the right end.
Grab the second strip and form it into a U shape. Place it on top of the big loop you made with the other strip.
Grab the big loop by the right tip and place it on top of the U. Place the left end of the loop under the U.
The left side of the U should not be put underneath the bit loop.
Hold the right side end of the U and put it into the big loop. Put it under and then over the left side of the U.
Take the end of the strips and pull them gently. It will form a knot.
After you have secured the fabric, cut a rectangle piece of fabric from the t-shirt
The rectangle can be used to glue the ends of the headband together.
You can use hot glue. It helps to keep the headband from moving and to keep your hair from getting caught.
After you make your own chunky headband, everyone will want to know where you got it!
