A Footbath That Removes Toxins From The Body, Reduces Inflammation And Improves Blood Flow

There are many different things that we might do to improve our health but from time to time, it is worth it to step back and look at what has worked for millennia. That is the case with the use of Epson salt because it has many beneficial properties. It has been used for millennia for detoxification, household cleaning and for gardening.

The name of Epson salts comes from the saline spring at Epsom in Surrey, England. The salt is different from other types of salt. It is a naturally occurring salt that is a pure mineral compound of sulfate and magnesium. Both sulfate and magnesium provide health benefits and detoxify the body. That is due to the fact that they are readily absorbed through the skin and enter into the bloodstream.

When you add Epsom salts to bathwater, they stimulate a process known as reverse osmosis. It helps to remove dangerous toxins and eliminate salt from the body. In doing so, it leaves space for the sulfate and magnesium to enter your system.

Magnesium has over 325 enzymes and works to reduce inflammation and enhance the function of the muscles and nerves. It can also boost your blood flow and oxygenate the entire body.

Sulfates promote healthy skin, joints and nerve tissue. They also work to remove toxins and to build protein molecules in the brain tissues and joints.

Using Epson salt baths regularly can help to ease muscle pain, toenail fungus, sprains, bruises, gout and athlete’s foot. It may also help to reduce problems associated with chronic diseases and pain, detoxify the body and regulate the mineral balance inside of each of us.

If you are pregnant, have a cardiovascular disease or have open wounds or burns, you should talk to a natural health physician before using Epson salt.

This is how to take an Epsom salt bath:

You should schedule yourself for 40 minutes, as the body needs 20 minutes to eliminate toxins, and 20 more to absorbs the minerals in the bath water. In a bath filled with warm water, add the Epsom salts in the amounts as listed below:

Children under 60 lbs.: Add 1/2 cup of salts to a standard size bath
People between 60-100 lbs.: Add 1 cup of salts to a standard size bath
people between 100-150 lbs.: Add 1 1/2 cup of salts to a standard size bath
people between 150-200 lbs.: Add 2 cups of salts to a standard size bath

For every 50lbs larger, you should add 1/2 cup of salts more.

Additional tips:

To boost the antioxidants benefits of the bath, add 1/2 cup of olive oil, which is beneficial for the skin and contains polyphenols. You can also add some ginger or cayenne powder to boost the heat levels and sweat out more toxins.

Avoid soap since it will interfere with the detox process and the action of the minerals. Then, rest for 1-2 hours. In the case of arthritic joints, make sure you stay active as much as possible to protect the joints from congestion.
