During the summer months, we often use pool noodles in, of all places, the swimming pool! They are a lot of fun, and can help to keep us afloat or simply provide us with a wide variety of enjoyment options.
Although pool noodles may be used in the summertime frequently, they often find their way into the shed during the winter. That doesn’t have to be the case, however, and you will be amazed with the different uses for the simple pool noodle to enhance your home in a variety of ways. Here are our favorite 9, plus a bonus tip you will not want to miss!
1. Child’s Bed – Making the transition from a crib to a bed can have some scary moments but it becomes less frightening with a simple pool noodle. You can put it on the edge of the bed under a fitted sheet and the child will be less likely to roll out of their new bed.
2. Save Money – One of the ways that we tend to lose money in the winter months is because of drafts under the doors. Our heat may run constantly but it is in vain, because the heat is simply going outside. If you cut a pool noodle to size, it can be slipped under the front door to close the gap.
3. Boot Storage – Many of us are short on space when it comes to our closets. That is especially true with floor space, and if you have boots, they can drape over and use more space than necessary. Cut some pool noodles to size and slip them inside of the boots and they will stay erect.
4. Car Door Protection – When you tend to bump the wall of your garage with your car door, a pool noodle can help. Cut the noodle in half and screw it to the garage wall to protect the door.
5. Adjustable Doorstop – Many parents cringe every time a door is slammed at the home, wondering if tiny fingers have been hurt. Keep the door from slamming by cutting a pool noodle and sliding it on to the edge of the door. Not only can it help to save little fingers, it can save the frustration of hearing a door slam as well!
6. Filling a Bucket – If you are trying to fill a large mop bucket, there’s no need to hoist it up to the sink. Just fit the pool noodle over your faucet and put the other end in the bucket. Problem solved!
7. Hang up Slacks – When you hang slacks on a regular hanger, you could end up with a crease. Put a pool noodle over the hanger and hang your slacks on it while they dry. The lines will be eliminated.
8. Make a Fort – There is nothing like building a fort in the home when the weather is ugly outside. Some pool noodles, duct tape and a few sheets makes an awesome fort for the kids!
9. Trampoline Protection – The springs on the trampoline can be damaging to your skin but covering the springs with pool noodle pieces is the perfect solution. Use multiple colors to make it look great!
Bonus Tip
10. Make a Wreath – Take a pool noodle, bend it in a circle and wrap some duct tape to hold it together. This can make the perfect beginning for a wreath of any size. It is not only a great way to make a circle, the material is light enough that it can be hung on the door without falling.
