When most of us look at a bookcase, we see something that is primarily to hold books and at the most, perhaps some knickknacks. What this woman saw when she looked at an IKEA bookcase, however, was something that would make her children’s playroom the best spot in the house.
If you are familiar with IKEA, you recognize that it is furniture created to transform the home quickly and easily. Most people consider IKEA to be the best store ever as far as home decorating is concerned, but with a little imagination, you might be surprised with how much better it can be.
This simple project starts with 2 Expedite bookcases. They were assembled and then turned on their their side and placed at the edge of the room with the corners touching. At this point, it already appears to be an awesome bench.
The space-saving capabilities at this point are off the chart but it’s time to do something about those uncomfortable seats.
Buy some half-inch board and thick foam and cut them to the exact size of the bookcase benches.
Lay out a piece of fabric and then layer the foam with the wood on top.
Staple the fabric to the board around the edges. This will create a very comfortable cushion.
After turning the cushions over and placing them on the benches, the transformation is complete.
Wasn’t that easy?
