I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. There is a lot of truth to the old saying, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” It doesn’t matter how much something seems to be a lost cause, in the eyes of someone with real vision, it can be turned into a masterpiece.
That is what Gail, from the My Repurposed Life Blog saw, when she found an old desk at a garage sale. She realized she had something she could work with but didn’t quite know where to take it.
The piece was missing a middle drawer, which was not a huge deal, since she was going to deconstruct it anyway. After looking at it closer, she realized it would be too much work to save so she decided to chop it up.
First, the flipped the desk over and took off the top. After the top was off, the middle section was removes. This created 2 halves of what was once the drawers of the desk.
Gail was now at a crossroads. She could make the two sides into night stands or perhaps matching side tables but she wanted to do something more. That is when the idea of a dresser came to her.
She mounted the two sides next to each other on a table top. Then she connected the two pieces with a piece of scrap wood.
After they were connected, the trimmed a piece of thick plywood to cover the top of the two pieces. Afterward, she put the drawers back in.
After finishing off the piece with some primer, paint and sealer, it looked absolutely lovely. She then added some cute knobs to the drawers and it was ready for the bedroom
