I have a friend who’s house always smells amazing but, no matter how hard I try, I’ve never been able to duplicate what she has with a store-bought item. Finally, I broke down and asked her about her secret and she told me straight up!
As it turns out, there is no magic to making the house smell great and it isn’t necessary to purchase a high priced spray at the grocery store to do it. You can make the spray quite easily at home, now that I’m going to share the recipe with you. It is similar to Febreze but it smells much, much better! Best yet, you only spend $.60 per bottle and it will will last the same amount of time as a bottle of Febreze or longer.
One of the “secret ingredients” in this mixture are Downy Unstoppables. They are tiny beads and they come in a variety of scents. Although they are typically used in laundry, they make a great addition to this mixture.
Gather all of the ingredients together.:
1/4 cup of Downy beads
4 tablespoons of baking soda
1 cup of boiling water
Empty spray bottle
Put the beads into a bowl with the baking soda and pour the boiling water over it. Stir the mixture and allow it to stand for 30 minutes or longer, allowing the beads to fully dissolve.
Use a funnel to transfer the mixture into the spray bottle.
You can spray this on almost anything in the home. It has been used on furniture, carpets, curtains, clothing and you can even spray it on the dog bed safely. No residue or film will be left behind.
After using it, you are sure to get plenty of questions as to how you keep your home smelling so fresh!
