There are many people who dislike the shower and tub combination. It looks as if you just put something in the area because it was convenient, but it really doesn’t have any personality. Of course, changing out the tub can be difficult and there are problems associated with doing the project as well, such as the possibility for leaks.
If you don’t like the way your shower and tub combination look, there are some options available to help you change it for the better. This DIY project comes from Lovely Crafty Home, and it can make a difference in your tub that will not only keep you smiling, anyone else who sees it will love it as well.
The process involves using stones to reface the front of the tub. It may seem involved, but it is a lot quicker and easier than what you are thinking. There is not much preparation for the project, just gather your materials together.
Apply adhesive to the rectangular stones with a caulk gun.
Stack the stones across the front of the tub
Lay the stones end to end in any pattern you like but it is best to try to stagger the joints, similar to the way you would with wood flooring. It is also best to work from opposing ends for each row so that when you reach the last stone, the cut won’t stand out as much as if they were all on one side.
It is better if you make the cuts as you finish the row rather than trying to fill in the hole at a later time. Airstone can easily be cut with a hacksaw.
Quarter round molding is used to finish off the top when you get to a point where no stones can be used.
Clean up the finished look by using caulking for filling in the cracks and crevices.
That is the only thing necessary for cleaning up your boring bathroom and making it awesome.
You might even want to add a new curtain to show off your DIY project.
