Like many people, I love to decorate for parties. It doesn’t matter if it is a holiday or not, every time I have people over to my home, I consider it to be a special occasion. That is why I take the time to decorate for each and every party, and this idea will now be part of every gathering.
Have you ever purchased dishware to use at a party and then you would throw it away when the party was over? Sure, it looked great on the table but the waste is incredible. Using this method, you can create your own, beautiful designer plate and you will only spend a few dollars doing it.
To get started, you will need to gather some simple items. Start with square pieces of fabric (or cloth napkins), “Her Glass” plates from the dollar store and Mod Podge.
Spread a thick coat of glue on the back of the plate using a knife.
After you have the plate covered, drape a napkin over the back of the plate.
Be sure the top of the fabric is facing the plate and smooth the cloth to remove any bumps or bubbles. A small spatula can make it very smooth.
Next, add a second layer of Mod Podge to the top of the napkin so it is securely held in place.
Prop the plates up on cups and allow them to dry overnight
After they have dried, simply trim off the edges of the fabric so only the material touching the bottom of the plate is left.
Once you flip the plates, you will have the cutest designs!
To take things a step further, you can also spray a clear sealer over the napkins. It will make the plates easy to wash.
