Before you know it, Mother’s Day will be upon us and we want to make sure that we are well prepared so we don’t have to panic looking for a gift at the last minute. After all, when was the last time you found the “perfect” gift while you were shopping in a hurry at the local Walmart?
Rather than putting things off until the last minute, why not make this simple DIY project that your mother will absolutely love? They are tissue paper candles and they only take a few minutes to make. Best of all, you can personalize them with a special picture or a message to make them unique and heartfelt.
Gather the following ingredients:
Candles
Wax paper
Tissue paper
Sharpie
Tape
Heat gun or hairdryer
Printer
How to Do It:
When you’re ready to make your personalized candle, tape some tissue paper to a piece of cardstock or printer paper. Make sure that the entire page is covered and tape it down securely so the printer doesn’t tear it to shreds. Then print the picture you want and it will print on the tissue paper.
Now cut out the picture. Separate the tissue from the printer paper or card stock and trim the edges.
Place the tissue paper image on the candle and wrap it with wax paper or parchment paper. Using a heat gun or hairdryer, melt the tissue image onto the candle. If you have a picture with light background, it is best to use a white candle.
If you want to add a special touch, write a message on the candle. The easiest way to do it is to write on tissue paper using a sharpie. You can then transfer the message to the candle using the same method that you used for the picture.
You can cut out tissue paper hearts and melt them on to the candle for some extra love.
When you make your own special candles in this way, any mother is going to love them. Have some fun and make something great for your mom today.
