There is a product that you probably have around your home and you are not using it properly. It is likely found in the medicine cabinet or perhaps tucked underneath the sink in the bathroom but in either case, once you realise the fantastic uses for the product, you will bring it out to the front again.
I’m talking about Vicks VapoRub, and it is a popular cold remedy that uses medicated vapors. The ingredients inside of Vicks include eucalyptus, menthol and camphor. Those ingredients can really help to relieve nasal congestion and can do wonders for a cough. What might come as a surprise to you, however, is that is not the only reason why you should have the product around.
Check out the following 12 other ways that you can use Vicks.
1. Insect repellent
Open up a jar of Vicks VapoRub to repel flies, mosquitoes and other insects. It is great for when you run out of repellent.
2. Headache relief
Menthol is in Vicks and it helps to lower your blood pressure in the head, relieving the pain you may be experiencing. Just rub a little on your forehead to get started.
3. Take Care Of Your Feet
Before you go to bed at night, apply some Vicks on your heels. It helps to relieve problems with cracked and dry skin. After applying the Vicks, put on your socks and leave them on until the next day. Wash your feet with cold water in the morning, scraping away dead skin with a pumice stone. Use your regular footcare product at that point. Do it nightly and you will notice a difference.
4. Belly fat
1 tablespoon of crushed camphor, 1 tablespoon of alcohol and 1 tablespoon baking soda mixed with half a jar of Vicks gets you a fantastic paste. Before you do any physical exercise, apply the paste to the abdomen and wrap it with plastic wrap. Rinse with plenty of water when you’re finished working out. It works fantastic when you do it two or three times a week and it will make a difference.
5. Pet pee
If your pets tend to relieve themselves inside of the home, leave an open jar of Vicks out in the area. Veterinarians claim that dogs and cats don’t like the smell of Vicks so they stay away.
6. Cat Ruining your furniture
If your cat keeps scratching your furniture, leave some Vicks VapoRub in the area. They will stop immediately.
7. Stretch marks
Rub some Vicks on your stretch marks and you will see a difference in two weeks.
8. Toenail fungus
If you have toenail fungus, apply some Vicks to the affected nail nightly and put on some socks. Wash your feet the next day and clip off as much of the nail as possible. Repeat nightly until you recover.
9. Bruises
Rub some Vicks on the bruise and it will help to speed up the healing process.
10. Earaches
Put some Vicks VapoRub on a cotton ball and put it in your ear. You can leave it there for a few hours until you get to the doctor. It is not a cure for the infection but it can help to reduce inflammation and pain.
11. Acne
A thin layer of Vicks applied to the problem areas of your face overnight can make a difference. Make sure to be persistent.
12. Muscle and Back Pain
The natural ingredients in Vicks helps to relax stressed muscles. It also works great for tennis elbow. Simply apply it to the affected area until the pain is gone.
Keep These Things in Mind
Vicks should be tested on the skin before you use it in mass quantities. If you have any allergic reaction, discontinue use immediately.
Do not use it on children under two years of age. It can affect the respiratory tract.
