The body certainly is an effective machine. On an ongoing basis, it is constantly cleaning toxins from the inside and bringing them to the exterior of the body. It does this through many means, including sweating, breathing and going to the bathroom.
Unfortunately, the world that we live in has so many toxins in the environment that it is difficult to keep up with the process. Not only do we have toxins in the air that we breathe and the water that we drink, we often put them on our skin through perfume, creams and even some solutions that are supposed to be “good for us.”
The first step in cleaning the body of toxins is recognizing the signs that the body is full of toxins.
These are the symptoms you should not ignore:
1. Abdominal fat
When your body is full of toxins, it makes it difficult for your glucose levels to be regulated and abdominal fat occurs.
2. Skin issues
Excessive toxins can also lead to issues with the skin, including itchy and inflamed skin. The skin is the largest organ in the human body and it is responsible for detoxification, which is why you may experience these problems.
3. Headaches
Poisons in the body can irritate the central nervous system and lead to headaches.
4. Overheating
When the liver is overworked, it can create extra heat. The liver is where many of the toxins are stored, so you may have hot flashes.
5. Low-energy
Toxic overload can lead to exhaustion
6. Congested sinuses
The contaminated air that we breathe can often lead to sinus congestion.
7. Insomnia
As toxins accumulate in the tissues, they slow down circulation and can lead to insomnia.
8. Gallbladder
The toxins that are deposited in the liver can lead to heavy bile and can easily clog the gallbladder
9. Yellow or White Coated Tongue
If your tongue has a yellow or white color, it can be a sign that your body is full of toxins, in particular, your blood.
The Three Most Common Remedies for Excess Toxins
1. Epson salt bath
Epson salts can detoxify the body. They can also raise your magnesium levels, which detoxifies you on a cellular level as well. An Epson salt bath can help to eliminate heavy metals and reduce pain in the body.
Add 1 or 2 cups of Epsom salt to a bathtub filled with warm water. Soak in the water for 15 minutes. Repeat this detox 3 times a week. If you have heart problems or high blood pressure, talk to a doctor before trying this detox method.
2. Green tea
The antioxidants in green tea are extremely effective at eliminating free radicals. It also has a substance known as EGCG, which is an additional antioxidant that can help to prevent liver damage.
Drink 2 or 3 cups of green tea daily. Some people also find it is easier to take green tea extract
3. Lemons
Lemons have many benefits to the human body that can promote detoxification. They alkalize the body, as well as producing bile production in the liver.
Lemons have high amounts of vitamin C and other antioxidants which can increase the immune system. When you eat these fruits, and in particular the peels, you are getting a powerful antioxidant known as de-limonene. This antioxidant activates liver enzymes to help detoxify the body.
The best way to get lemon in your diet is to drink a cup of warm water daily mixed with the juice from a squeezed lemon. It is best if you drink it upon awakening.
If you don’t like the taste, you can drink a cup of warm water mixed with 1/2 cup lemon juice and a tablespoon of honey. Add a dash of cayenne pepper for a real kick.
