Doctors Are Now Warning Parents To Stop Giving Their Children Hot Cheetos

There are times when we may see something in the news and we don’t really pay much attention to it. Perhaps you have heard something about hot Cheetos recently and didn’t give it a second thought. As it turns out, doctors are now taking an issue with those Cheetos and parents need to pay attention to what they are saying.

Flamin’ Hot Cheetos is one of those products that seems to market themselves accurately, but that isn’t necessarily a good thing. They market themselves as being “dangerously good” but doctors are saying it is an accurate statement. They want parents to know that their children should not be eating hot Cheetos and even the parents should avoid them.

When you overindulge in hot Cheetos, the side effects can actually put you in the hospital!

According to Dr. Kathleen Berchelmann, a doctor at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Flaimin’ Hot Cheetos are incredibly addicting because of the combination of salt, saturated fat and sugar that is included. Even people who have a good amount of self-control are having a difficulty putting the bag down. Since children generally have no self-control, they may finish the entire bag.

It isn’t particularly unhealthy for the reason that it is bad to eat that much processed food or fat, there is a more sinister reason. Eating that many Flamin’ Hot Cheetos can damage your stomach because of the red-hot spices that are inside.

The spices from Cheetos stick along the gastrointestinal tract, including everything from the stomach to the small intestine. Pain from the small intestine can rise up into the chest, probably due to the red peppers and spice contained in the snack.

If a patient has had a history of acid reflux or heartburn, the spices can cause even additional problems.

For children and others who eat a large amount of these Cheetos, they may have a problem with red stools. This can generally cause some concern over the possibility that it is blood causing the stools to turn red, so a visit to the emergency room is in order.

Although the red stools are not necessarily a reason for panic, the change in colour does show that you’ve eaten too many Cheetos. It takes a considerable amount of food dye to change the colour of your stool.

So the next time you are prompted to eat too many Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, think twice about it.
