Most of us have heard about aspartame and regardless of whether we use it or not, there certainly is not a shortage of opinions about it. As a matter of fact, simply pulling up Google and doing a quick search will show you that there is a ton of information about it, including scientific research and speculation from everyone.
It is important for us to move beyond the speculation and look at the potential safety issues that are involved with aspartame. Doctors are constantly telling us that is not dangerous, and the government and medical experts would like us to think that is perfectly fine to use aspartame as a way to lose weight without giving up on sweetness.
It turns out, however, that we have been lied to about its safety and it all boils down to profits.
The pharmaceutical company, G.D. Searl developed aspartame but they were unable to get it approved by the FDA. This is due to the fact that the monkeys and mice involved in the research developed tumours, seizures, brain lesions and some even died.
They continued to state that their product was safe, even though it had been rejected for some 16 years.
This video will provide additional information:
Eventually, the FDA got involved with the Department of Justice and asked them to prosecute G.D. Searl for submitting fraudulent data to get aspartame approved. It was then that a senior toxicologist informed Congress that “Beyond a shadow of a doubt aspartame triggers brain tumours.”
Even the National Soft Drink Association initially objected to the use of aspartame as being unsafe in carbonated beverages. That is due to the fact that it was unstable in liquid form and broke down into various chemicals, including formaldehyde.
Monsanto ended up purchasing aspartame in 1985 along with the NutraSweet company. That partnership lasted until 2000, and then Monsanto sold it to J.W. Childs Equity Partners.
92 different symptoms were identified by the FDA and were directly linked aspartame. They included weight gain, nausea, dizziness, blindness, deafness and death. Despite all of that, it is still being used today.
The Aspartame Resource Center claims that it is used in over 6000 products around the world.
That center is the public relations arm of Ajinomoto, one of the largest aspartame producers in the world. NutraSweet is another of those companies.
If you look at the website of the Aspartame Resource Center, you will see sections that are labeled “medical advisory board” and “meet the doctors.” They further state the following:
“The Aspartame Information Center Expert Medical Advisory Board was created to help guide the Center’s communications to health professionals and the public about aspartame benefits, safety, and role in a healthy diet.
The board members provide counsel on current medical and nutrition science, as well as insight on tools that help address the needs of health professionals in their work. Their backgrounds span critical areas of medicine and science, and each has unique experience in health and nutrition.”
That resource Center claims that simply looking at the ingredient list will let you know if aspartame is being used. They claim that the FDA demands that it is labeled as such.
Even if aspartame is not listed, however, it may be in there because it can be called by other names, including phenylalanine, which contains aspartame.
You really need to be cautious that aspartame is not included in the products that you are using, including liquid antibiotics and vitamins. Your vigilant efforts are the only way to avoid ingesting this harmful and potentially deadly product.
