One of the most popular flooring options in many homes is carpeting. It is something that can help to warm up the area and it is also in an expensive choice when compared with hardwood flooring or porcelain tile.
If you are a family that has carpet with tall piles, however, you are likely familiar with the indentations that stick around when furniture is in place.
For those who are frustrated over the indentations in carpet when furniture is moved, there is no need to be concerned anymore.
This simple solution will not only remove the indentation, it will do it quickly and you will never be able to tell what was there in the first place.
The first step in the process is to use an ice cube. This is especially effective on smaller indentations, such as those from small chairs or coffee tables. Place an ice cube or two in the affected indentation and allow the ice to melt overnight. As the piles slowly absorb the water, they will become saturated.
After the ice has melted, brush it with a wide toothed comb or a brush. You can even use the side of a credit card. The indentation should disappear.
A second possible solution is to use suction. Brush over the affected area with a wide toothed comb or the side of a credit card for a few minutes to loosen the piles. Apply suction directly to the area and the dent should disappear.
For those who are dealing with a larger dent or if you don’t have a vacuum (although I don’t know why you would have carpeting and no vacuum), you can try steam. Wet a small towel until it is damp and place it directly over the affected area. Put an iron on the cotton setting and place it on top of the towel. Be sure to have the iron slightly overlap the edge of the dent. After a minute or two, remove the iron and let the towel dry on the area for a few hours.
If you still have a dent, you need to bring out the big guns. Mist the area with water and comb or rub the carpeting as was described above. Steam the dent with a carpet steamer or your iron. If the dent is still there, spray it again, comb it and blow your hair dryer on the area on medium heat for a few minutes. Be sure to comb the area on occasion and then turn the hairdryer back on again.
Goodbye carpet dents!
