It is very important for us to take care of our health, and this includes a number of different factors. One that certainly should not be overlooked as our oral health, as you might be surprised with the effect it can have on your overall health. As a matter of fact, proper dental hygiene is not only going to keep the bacteria found in your mouth at healthy levels, it can reduce the possibility for gum disease and infection.
One of the issues that many of us face with our oral health is a buildup of tartar. This builds up on the teeth as a result of bacteria in food and it can make it quite difficult for us to clean our teeth properly.
Tartar also increases the possibility that you will have infections and cavities. Doctors recommend having your teeth professionally cleaned every six months. There are also a few natural things you can do to help keep your teeth clean in between visits to the dentist.
Apple Cider Vinegar – It has been recommended that you should soak your toothbrush in apple cider vinegar and then brush your teeth as you normally would. Make sure to rinse your mouth well after you brush. Do this a couple times per week with the Apple cider vinegar but don’t do it too often. Using apple cider vinegar too frequently could damage your teeth.
Baking Soda – Rather than using regular toothpaste from the store, try some baking soda with a pinch of salt. This can really work to remove tartar buildup on the teeth. It is also possible to make the mouthwash by mixing 1/2 cup baking soda with 1 cup water, 4 teaspoons of vegetable glycerin, 10 drops of lemon oil and 1 teaspoon aloe vera gel. Use it once or twice daily.
Fruit – Believe it or not, some red fruits, such as tomatoes and strawberries, can work wonders for your teeth. After eating the fruit, let the juice stand for 5 minutes on the teeth to soften the tartar. Rinse your mouth with warm water and baking soda and your smile will be brighter.
Something else that you can do along with trying these basic routines is to change your personal routine daily. You can stop using tobacco, brush and floss regularly. You might also try eating more spicy food to promote saliva buildup.
