In almost every household, a tub of Vaseline can be found. It is usually located underneath the sink or in the medicine cabinet but it is an item that is often underutilized. When you understand the different ways that you can use Vaseline, you will recognize why it is referred to as “wonder jelly.”
Vaseline is the brand name for a petroleum jelly that is sold by one particular company. It does not have any added fragrances, colors or any possible irritants added to it. Most people recognize that it is great for soothing dry skin or for lubrication, but there are many other ways you can use Vaseline as well.
The following are some of the top ways that Vaseline is used. Why not give them a try? You will be amazed with what it can accomplish.
Body Scrub – Mix Vaseline with kosher salt to create an all-natural, exfoliating and moisturizing body scrub.
Rust – Add a thin coat of Vaseline to your tools to prevent them from rusting.
Fire – Dip cotton balls in a generous amount of Vaseline and use them for lighting a fire. Not only will they catch fire easily, they will burn for a long time.
Cats – Massage a small amount of Vaseline into your cat’s paws. It will help to protect the sensitive pads.
Car Batteries – Corrosion can build up on the terminals of your automobile battery. Coat the battery terminal posts with Vaseline and reconnect the clamps.
Squeaky Doors – Forget the WD-40, rub Vaseline on the hinges.
Furniture – Buff some Vaseline into wood furniture with a soft cotton cloth. It will act as a furniture polish, removing stains and water rings.
Candles – Roll up a small piece of paper into a thin tube and dip it into Vaseline. It is a great emergency candle.
Cheeks – When it is very cold outside, put a little Vaseline on your cheeks and face to keep your skin from getting chapped and cold.
Leather Shoes – When your leather shoes are worn out, buff them with a little Vaseline.
Bottle Caps – If you use nail polish, use a little Vaseline around the threads of the bottle to keep the cap from sticking.
Moisturizer – Put Vaseline on your feet and then put on a pair of socks before going to sleep at night to moisturize the skin.
Jewelry – If you are irritated from wearing jewelry, rub Vaseline on the part that touches your skin. This is especially beneficial for earrings.
Perfume – Apply a little Vaseline to the area where you put on your perfume and it will last all day long.
