Sometimes, it takes a little bit of creativity to make things just right at your home. That is especially true when you’re doing a new design, such as when you are preparing a new nursery. Fortunately, the creative parents for this DIY project were able to put that creativity to good use.
Kaycee and her husband, Casey, wanted to create something magical for their seven month old son, so they themed the nursery after Harry Potter. Casey first brought up the idea for the nursery, including flags from the Hogwarts houses and painting of the house elf Dobby. Plans for the nursery started soon after Kaycee became pregnant.
“Right when we found out we were pregnant, [my husband] knew he wanted to do a Harry Potter nursery. It took some coaxing from me to agree.”
In the end, she was happy that they went through with the plans and she creditor her husband for having the vision of the nursery. Perhaps their favorite part of the room, however, is the wall mural that makes it look as if windows are right beside the crib. They had an artist friend paint a mural and it took her five days.
“We had the idea that we wanted it to feel like you were in the castle and wanted a window, but Nate really took it to the next level,” she said. “It turned out so much better than I could have ever imagined.”
So who is the biggest fan of Harry Potter in the house? Kaycee readily admits that it is her husband. She said that anytime they are on a road trip, he listens to Harry Potter audiobooks.
Now that he has such an enchanting nursery, their son may just give some competition to the dad.
