When it comes to hairstyle, especially color, the styles tend to come and go relatively quickly. It wasn’t that long ago that rainbow colored hair was all the rage and, although it still enjoys some popularity, it is already beginning to fade. Now the new generation is stepping up to the plate and I, for one, think that it is a trend that will stick around for the long term!
This new trend, known as Macaroon Hair, is a spinoff of rainbow hair but it is muted and quite beautiful. This hairstyle is also being called Candy Unicorn Hair, because it tends to use the pastel colors that are often used for unicorn toys and candy!
It is a very basic palette that consist of violet, peach, pale pink, mint green, blue, yellow and silver.
A hairstylist by the name of Shelley Gregory is the one behind this new trend. She claims to have been inspired by Laduree, a famous macaroon and pastry shop in New York City. Locals absolutely love this shop and it is well-known for producing a macaroon that shares the same color scheme.
Gregory was even interviewed by Cosmopolitan and she had this to say about the new style…
“Everything from the crown molding and the way they display the macarons – it sticks with you. It’s kind of like Disneyland, where it’s magic. I wanted that feeling when you look at this hair.”
This is certainly a beautiful and whimsical hairstyle. Although it was fashioned after a type of cookie and candy, it is really something that we feel will stick around for a long time.
