Official Alert Released: Little Girl Uses Popular Product And Loses Her Hair

Life can be difficult for a 10-year-old girl, especially when she starts losing her hair after using a popular beauty treatment. That was the case with Eliana, who had a beautiful head of red hair until she suffered through what was called the worst “bad hair day” of her life.

You might be surprised to learn that her experience is not the only one related to this product. It is also a product you might have in your own bathroom!

Eliana had this experience two years ago, just before she turned 10 years old. She wanted to try something different on her hair, so an “all-natural” and “safe” product was chosen. When her hair started falling out, her mum was worried that she had cancer but thankfully, the little girl is fine.

Miriam, Eliana’s mother, was both angered and frightened over the experience. When she first combed her little girl’s hair, about a third of it came out.

The mother is convinced that Wen Hair Care cleaning conditioner is to blame. Her daughter’s hair began to fall out soon after coming in contact with the product. What is even more shocking is that her daughter only used it 3 times.

In the United States, personal care products deemed to be unsafe cannot be recalled, but warnings can be issued.

Thousands of other customers of the Wen Haircare products have come forward with their own stories. So far, 127 complaints have been logged. It is even reported that the parent company has received over 21,000 complaints from customers!

The FDA has released an alert stating that this haircare product has caused hair loss, balding and rashes.

The FDA has also opened an investigation into hair loss claims from the product.

It turns out, even if the FDA concludes Wen Hair products are responsible for this girl’s hair loss and the record number of complaints the FDA has received, the agency lacks the legal authority to even issue a recall.

Personal care products can only be recalled voluntarily, even if it is shown to be unsafe.

Efforts are underway to change the way that personal care products are regulated. Eliana also added her own personal letter, asking for support with this legislation.

It has been two years since Eliana lost the majority of her hair and it has started to grow back. It is a lot thinner and there are still bald patches.

Unfortunately, she also experienced bullying at school as a result of her hair loss so she started homeschooling last year. We wish her the best and hope that she is able to come through this problem successfully.
