Many people who live in a small home feel as if they have no options as far as adding additional space. If you have some creativity and the ability to design something “out-of-the-box,” however, you might just find you have more space than what you thought!
A good example is seen when this husband-and-wife, who lived in small town house, realized they needed additional space for their growing child. After looking around on the floor, they started to look up at the available room that was right over there head!
The extra space in the home came in the way of a two-story foyer. This type of a home may make for a nice entryway, but most people find it difficult to decorate. Of course, a chandelier could always be installed but more than likely, it is just going to be something to look at as you are on your way through the front door to the living space.
This couple enlisted the help of their father-in-law and decided to make the most use of that unused space. What they built was a loft that was not only adorable, it suited the needs of their child and the adults quite nicely.
This could be the perfect project, not only for those parents with children but for adults who want a small sanctuary where they can get away to read or do some creative work.

This is what it looked like before they started. You might think that nothing could be put into such a small space, but prepare to be amazed. By the time they took this picture, they had already laid the “foundation.”
It took almost no time for them to build the base that would hold the weight of those who would live in the loft. If you do this project, make sure your base is absolutely sturdy.
After laying in the floor, the shape is beginning to come together but we couldn’t imagine the little one running around without any railing!
Apparently, neither could they, so they added a railing for safety and put in the furniture that made the room absolutely perfect! Not only is it equipped with some toys for the child, it is the perfect office space for the adults as well.
Now that the project is finished, here is how it looks. It is beautiful, simple and extremely functional.
