Potty training a child is something that many parents look forward to but unfortunately, it typically takes much longer than what they first imagined. Of course, most new parents envision that they will be getting rid of diapers by the time the child is two, but it is a fleeting reality for far too many.
Of course, if you are able to potty train a child at a young age, the end result is going to be so worth the effort. Not only is it going to be a lot more sanitary and easy on the parents, you’re going to save a literal fortune on diapers!
If the thought of potty training appeals to you but you are unsure where to start, here is a step-by-step method you have to try. It is a way to potty train a child in only 3 days and you will not believe how effective it can be!
Admittedly, this method is not super easy but if you take the time to care for it now, you will always love the fact that you did. As long as you plan ahead for the experience, it can be a good one for both you and for the child. According to Laura Jensen, the creator of this method, it is not only a time to teach your child how to use the potty, it is a time when the two of you can bond.
“The parent(s) needs to know that it will take work and you have to dedicate a full three days to the child. This means giving up me time. You won’t be cooking, cleaning or visiting with friends-or ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians.’ You will seriously be spending all waking hours with your child for three days.
Have your shopping done and meals prepared ahead of time. Do the laundry and clean the house prior to starting. Be ready to play games, color, watch cartoons and just enjoy some bonding time with your child.”
1. On the first day of potty training, have your child throw away the last diaper and say goodbye to it.
2. Don’t wrap a diaper around the baby, wrap a T-shirt around him. Tell your child that nothing is there to catch anything, it all has to end up in the potty.
3. Feed your child breakfast and provide them with an extra drink. Make an immediate trip to the potty.
4. A sippy cup should be kept full and available at all times. Take the child to the potty every 15 minutes and never miss a trip.
5. After dinner is over, do not give the child anything to eat or drink.
6. Right before the child goes to bed, take him to the potty. You should also set an alarm to go off halfway through the night for another potty trip.
Continue to repeat these steps for 3 days. Don’t be alarmed if there are accidents, they will happen and it is important for you to remain calm when they happen. It may take the full three days but when you are finished, your child will be fully potty trained!
