It always helps when a home is organized properly but for a busy mother, it can be difficult to accomplish. This mother came up with an idea, however, that allowed her to set aside a portion of the wall in her kitchen that could accomplish absolutely everything she needed. She felt that it not only kept her organized, it changed her life.
It is known as the home command center, a place where everything needed to be organized can be kept at a single location. As you pass it throughout the day, you can see where you are, where you’ve been and where you’re going.
Of course, you can have a “command center” in any part of the home but this woman did something to the wall itself that truly made a difference. The secret is in the paint and not only is it a pretty color of teal, there is more to it than meets the eye.
The first step was to pick an area of the home that you don’t mind losing. Tape off the area to ensure that everything could fit properly in the space. It is more important to do this than what you may first thing, because if you pick an area that is too small, you would have run into problems after you did the painting.
After you are happy with the area, tape off the outside border and grab your paint.
Underneath the topcoat of color is something that you might never have thought about before. It is 7 coats of magnetic primer!
It might seem like a lot of work but when you have the primer in place, it does just what you think it would do, it makes your wall magnetic.
As long as you have magnets attached to your items, you can stick anything you want to it. Of course, you need to match the size of the magnet with the weight of the item you want on the wall.
There is something else about the paint that makes it rather unusual. It is chalkboard paint!
What this means is that every part of the surface that is not covered by something hanging on magnets can be used as a chalkboard.
The project turned out awesome. Not only is there a detailed calendar available and a meal planner, she can keep track of the day by day operations of the household.
As long as you have a little bit of available wall space, this project can work in any house.
