People Are STILL Leaving Their Dogs in Cars during the Summer Months

It is a scenario that happens far too often. We have our dog out and about with us, and suddenly we remember that an errand needs to be run. It seems like too much of a hassle to head home, so we take our dog with us and leave him in the car while we run into the store.

If you do this, you are making a huge mistake. Some people believe that cracking the window to allow a little air to circulate will be enough but it isn’t. Even on a day you might consider mild, where the temperature is 70 degrees F, the temperature inside the car can quickly get up over 100 degrees.

When a pet is trapped inside of a car, it can quickly be overtaken by fatigue, dehydration and can even experience organ failure.

There are many states that have passed laws making it illegal to leave a pet in a hot car. Other states have no protection for the pet in place.

It might make you feel better to crack the windows but it doesn’t do anything to keep the dog cool.

Many people see pets in cars on hot days but they don’t do anything about it. Others may take action, but for the most part, people just don’t understand how dangerous it is.
