11 Reasons Why You Want to Keep a Bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide Handy at All Times

All of us can appreciate household tips, but at times they may take us by surprise. For example, we may have a familiar item at home and use it for one particular purpose but once we look under the surface, it can be used for so many other reasons.

An example of one of those products that many of us have available is hydrogen peroxide.

It is an antiseptic that most of us have used throughout our lives for cleaning up a cut and avoiding infection.

In reality, hydrogen peroxide is a miracle substance that can be used for many reasons around the home.

Here are our 11 favorite ways to use it.

Teeth Whitening – An equal mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water swished around the mouth for 2 minutes twice daily can help to whiten your teeth.

Clean Vegetables – The pesticides on vegetables can be neutralized by soaking them in a sink full of cold water with 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide. Make sure you rinse the vegetables afterward.

Hair Color – Equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and water in a spray bottle can lighten your hair. Soak the sections you want lightened by spraying the mixture on the hair and then comb through it. Let the hydrogen peroxide stay in the hair for 30 minutes and then rinse.

Bloodstains – When you have clothing stained with blood, applying hydrogen peroxide and allow it to soak for a few minutes before washing can remove the stain.

Cleaning Surfaces – Keep a spray bottle of hydrogen peroxide to spray on the countertops, in your refrigerator or anywhere that needs a good cleaning.

Grout – Hydrogen peroxide and baking soda scrubbed into grout with a toothbrush can clean it as good as new.

Earwax – A few drops of olive oil in the ear followed by a cap of hydrogen peroxide can melt away earwax. Tilt your head after a few minutes to drain the mixture onto a tissue.

Musty Odors – Adding 1/2 cup of vinegar and 1/2 cup of peroxide to your wash can leave your towels smelling fresh.

Skunk Odors – Make the following mixture and wash with it to remove skunk odors. One quart hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda, 1 teaspoon dish soap and 2 quarts warm water.
