Make Your Own Candleholder Centerpiece

There is nothing quite like enjoying a nice bottle of wine with friends over a great meal. When the wine is empty, however, most of us simply toss it to the curb or recycle but there is something else you can do with the bottle. As a matter of fact, this project is so fun, you may never throw another wine bottle away again!

This project is perfect for those who love entertaining and like to have a centerpiece on the table. They are tea light candle centerpieces and they use wine bottles in a rather unique way. It is not only great for your own table, it makes a perfect gift as well.

Gather the materials you will need to get started, including a clean, empty wine bottle, cotton string, nail polish remover, sandpaper, a lighter, spray paint and some fun stickers.

Soak 2 feet of cotton string in nail polish remover to saturate it completely. Wrap it around the base of the bottle approximately 1 inch from the bottom. Tie it off and cut off the extra string.

Light the string using a lighter. The entire ring should catch on fire around the loop of string.

1

When the string begins to turn black but before the flame goes out, dunk the end of the bottle into a bowl of ice water.

2

When doing this, it is the quick change in temperature that will break the bottom of the bottle off of the clean line around the bottom of the string.

3

Smooth the rough surface around the cut with a piece of sandpaper.

4

Put stickers on the bottle to decorate it

5

Coat the bottle with a few layers of gold spray paint, allowing it to dry between coats.

6

Remove the stickers to expose the glass.

7

Now place the bottle over a lit tea light and it is a beautiful centerpiece.
