Create Your Own Spooky Potion Bottles From Common Household Items

There are a few different holidays that cause people to decorate. Some people may even decorate for all of them to some extent or another. When it comes to Halloween, however, the decorations tend to take a spooky turn.

Although it certainly is possible to go out and buy all of the decorations for your home this year, you would really be missing out on some awesome ideas. In fact, once you see this creative DIY project, which makes custom spooky potion bottles, you will want to try it for yourself.

Many of these bottles can be themed after your favourite film or show, or you can just use your imagination. There really aren’t any limits as to what you can do and once you get started, you will see exactly how many different ideas come to mind.

DIY Potion Bottles:

Supplies:
Empty medicine or vitamin bottles
Sand paper
3D or puffy paint (I used these)
Acrylic or chalk paint (like these from Amazon)
Bristle and sponge brushes
Modeling clay (like this one from Amazon)

Directions:

Using empty bottles, remove the labels and lightly sand the surfaces. This will help the paint adhere.

To make the letters stand out, use the 3D or puffy paint to write the desired titles of your potions, like Frog’s Breath or Snake Scales. Be sure to recruit the kiddies for suggestions on some fun naming options.

4

After your paint has completely dried, use acrylic or chalk paint on the rest of your bottles (excluding the lid).

Next are the lids. Secure them on your bottles, top with modeling clay, and shape (using your hands, a knife, a toothpick, etc.).

5

Once they’re dry, add the acrylic or chalk paint. Let dry, and you’ve got some spooky potion bottles!
